Skincare tips @ 40s and above
cleanse, moisturize, protect, serums and beyond...
Dr. Achyut Pokharel
With age, production of collagen, natural oils and elastin decreases in our skin, leading to dry, and dull skin. The skincare mistakes in 20s and 30s leads to an accelerated wrinkle, fine lines and age spots in early 40s. Aging skin also appear dramatically and suddenly in 40s due to decline in Estrogen production in female, leading to decrease skin fat, saggy skin and profound dryness. Cumulative effects of all these factors take away our young skin and youthful brightness.
An ideal skincare regimen should include both corrective (correcting previous skin damage) and preventive (preventing further skin damage).
Years of research supports each of these recommendations.
Anti-aging skin care tips
1. Protect your skin from the sun. Sun protection forms the foundation of every anti-aging skin-care plan. The sun rays make our skin age more quickly. We have so much evidence that the sun prematurely ages our skin that there is actually a word to describe this effect. This word is “photo-aging.” To help
patients protect their skin from the sun and other harmful UV rays, dermatologists offer these tips:
Seek shade. Be sure to seek shade and whenever your shadow looks shorter than you are.
Cover up in style. Whenever possible, wear a hat, pants, and long sleeves. Gloves in winters, help to minimize common signs of aging on our hands such as age spots. Sunglasses help reduce fine lines around our eyes.
o Apply Sunscreen cream every day over sun exposed areas frequently. It protects our skin. Broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 to 50 is required.
2. Unless necessary avoid sun exposure. The sun ultraviolet (UV) rays accelerate skin aging.
3. Apply moisturizer every day. As we age, skin becomes drier. Fine lines and wrinkles appear. Moisturizer traps water in our skin, giving it a more youthful appearance. For best results, use a facial moisturizer, body moisturizer, and lip balm.
4. Add Serum on your daily care. Dermatologist will explain which serum best suits your skin type and how to use it.
5. Wash away dirt twice a day. How you wash your face can affect your appearance. For best results, you want to wash with warm water and a mild cleanser rather than soap. You also should avoid scrubbing your skin clean.
6. Stop smoking. Tobacco smoke skin doctor. contains toxins that can lead to smoker’s face. Signs of smoker face include dull and dry complexion loss of skin’s firmness, premature lines and wrinkles, and leathery ski
7. Eat healthy foods. A healthy die promotes healthy skin. Make sure y eat plenty of fruits and vegetable lean proteins, and healthy fats.
8. Get enough sleep. It’s called beau rest for a reason. Sleep gives your body time to refresh and renew itself

After discussing the options, we ultimately decided to take our own car. However, when we were halfway through our journey, we discovered that the roads had been damaged by recent heavy rainfall. Since it wasn’t possible to turn back and we had to reach our destination anyway, we faced some challenges along the way but managed to reach Haatemaalo Chowk, Paiyun in Parbat by evening. Luckily, since we were a large group, the local management team of the health camp had made arrangements for us to stay in nearby hotels.
